Background
Chr. Hansen is one of Denmark’s most prestigious companies, with over 145 years of experience in sustainable agriculture and healthier products for over 1 billion people worldwide. When Chr. Hansen wanted to challenge the traditional perception of online employee training, they chose Mentorix to develop a sustainable concept for education during an important implementation phase.
The Challenge
As part of Chr. Hansen’s digital transformation, the company was inspired to use digital learning to drive significant organizational change. This transformation included the introduction of a new concept for service and product development.
However, they faced several challenges:
- Limited experience in engaging employees through online learning.
- Infeasibility of classroom training due to the global scope and project timelines.
Chr. Hansen tasked Mentorix with creating an effective, engaging training solution that would:
- Elevate employee skills through digital learning.
- Motivate employees to embrace the new service platform.
- Use digital tools to drive behavioral change among sales and customer support teams, ensuring the rapid adoption of the digital service platform.
Our Approach
Mentorix was responsible for designing and developing a comprehensive training program. Our approach included:
- Change Communication Strategy: A tailored communication plan to ensure employees were aligned with the upcoming changes.
- 12 Online Course Modules: Development of 12 engaging and effective course modules based on our “Certified-to-Work” concept, ensuring employees were equipped with the necessary skills before the system’s go-live date.
- Internal Training for Key Staff: We provided key Chr. Hansen employees with a structured training process on how to develop and deliver e-learning, ensuring they could continue producing high-quality online content independently.
The Results
In just 2 months, we designed, delivered, and tested 12 comprehensive online course modules, reaching over 250 employees across 14 countries.
- Significant Cost Savings: Chr. Hansen saved millions by avoiding traditional classroom training and in-person workshops.
- Certified-to-Work Concept: Employees’ competencies were tested and validated before the system’s go-live, ensuring they were fully prepared.
- Internal Capability Development: Key Chr. Hansen staff received a “Playbook”, which included:
- Comprehensive guidelines for creating e-learning content.
- Quick-start guides for Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on planning and producing video instruction.
With 12 full-time employees now dedicated to building courses, Chr. Hansen continues to strengthen learning within the organization.
