MoP Foundation is a course in portfolio management. MoP® stands for Management of Portfolios. The certification is an internationally recognised method for portfolio management. The method, Management of Portfolios, is a so-called “Best Practice” method. The method helps to ensure a strategic fit between the company’s many projects and the business strategy. As a certified portfolio manager, you will be trained in methods and tools for managing progress, resources, finances, risks and dependencies related to portfolio management. As a certified MoP you actively and methodically contribute to ensuring that investments in projects are useful for the company. Furthermore, you ensure that the projects contribute to the strategic objective. MoP Foundation can be used for business projects as well as IT projects. Read more about portfolio management here.
Participants who become certified in Management of Portfolios (MoP Foundation) work in a project-oriented way, either as a project manager, programme manager or takes on strategic responsibility. Portfolio management is used to a large extent among larger companies. But medium-sized craftsmen companies with a specific trade could also benefit from the method. Whereas portfolio management is an ongoing activity, programme management is much more comprehensive as “programmes” are often about transforming parts of – or all of – the organisation. Portfolio management is about monitoring and managing projects, and prioritising the order of projects as well as ensuring strategist alignment with the business strategy.
Management of portfolio foundation is the theoretical foundation, while MoP Practitioner teaches you how to practice the method and deal with the natural dilemmas that arise in prioritisation. If you already have a PRINCE2 or MSP certification, Mentorix recommends MoP as the natural next course to support your future career.
