AgilePM Foundation (Agile Project Management Foundation) has the same basic principles as other agile training programs including Scrum, Safe and PRINCE2 Agile. Agile project management is about managing projects according to a method that is based on the customer’s definition of value. Through iterations, a project-product (service, product or solution) is created with characteristics that correspond to the customer’s expectations. Together with Scrum, AgilePM is an alternative to traditional progression-based project management. AgilePM is managed through iterations (repetitions of management processes). This creates transparency and better opportunities to act appropriately in relation to sudden reprioritization or other changes in the business environment.
AgilePM Foundation is the oldest agile framework that has been refined over the past 25 years. The methodology is well described in the accompanying manual, which explains in detail the organisation and content of the methodology. AgilePM is particularly well suited for the development of physical products or features. AgilePM makes use of prototyping, which is built into the well-documented phase model.
The AgilePM Foundation certification combines Agile approaches widely used in the software development industry with project management techniques to produce the best of both worlds: a framework for projects that are rigorous and controllable, yet able to adapt quickly to change. Our agile courses include exams and are fully accredited by APMG International.
The main difference between Scrum and AgilePM is on the organization part. In AgilePM you work with many different roles including Business Analyst, which means that there is a very clear role and responsibility descriptions.
The DSDM consortium has developed AgilePM foundation (and practitioner), the last new version, v2, was launched in 2017. The manual is of high quality with many good illustrations. The structure of the manual and our e-learning are similar.
